Nov. 2: After having an open wound for 3 months I finally start chemo tomorrow. I am proud because I AM THE ONE who closed the wound by following the strict instructions of the visiting wound care specialist. I have been tending the wound myself since late September and have gotten it closed or I would NOT have been able to move forward since chemo would have nearly guaranteed an infection of an open wound. The old adage "if you want something done right..." certainly applies here. Had to argue to get the wound care specialist to visit my home --you must be "homebound" to get one--but I dug my heels in and Carmen was great! She left me with enough supplies to handle myself and now I can help ANYONE with an open wound although I pray I never see another one!
I am leaving my anger phase and am entering 'acceptance' and 'motivated to beat this' phase big time. I cannot wait to get it over with and am planning a trip to China in May--a present for my daughter's 25th birthday and a present for me for going bald....I need to definitely get a big gift for that :-( as is the case with most women, after the fear, going bald is the worst part.
Coming this week: photo of me in chemo--stay tuned.
Good vibs coming your way as you start chemo tomorrow! You will beat this and soon enjoy China with Sam. Rhonda, I can't think of anyone who could do bald more gorgeous than you.
